Personal Liberty Questions

End limits on speech in politics?

Libertarians want to end tax-financed subsidies to candidates or parties and repeal all laws which restrict voluntary financing of election campaigns. The Left wants taxpayers to finance election campaigns, and to impose strict limits on campaign contributions. The Right is less enthusiastic about socializing campaign finance, but fails to systematically oppose such policies.

End limits on speech in all media?

Libertarians support full freedom of expression and oppose government censorship, regulation or control of communications media and technology. The Left usually supports freedom of expression, but sometimes wants to criminalize so-called "hate speech", or at least give existing crimes extra punishment if associated with ideas officially judged to be "hateful". The Right usually wants to protect speech that is unpopular for being "hateful", but wants to systematically limit speech that violates "community standards" related to vice.
